Western Medicine can be defined as branch of health science concerned with restoring and maintaining health. It is the practical science of preventing and curing diseases. However, western medicine generally refers to matters dealt with by physicians (and doctor specialists) and surgeons. There are traditions and schools of healing and alternative medicine which are usually not considered to be part of (Western) medicine.
