What is an eyebag?

An eyebag looks like a very small pillow that is about 7 inches long and 3 inchces wide. They are genreally filled with flaxseed or buckwheat; they are often sceneted with natural herbs such as lavender.

What are eyebags used for?

Eyebags can be used for many things. They are most commonly used in yoga studios so that students may put them over their eyes for the final relaxation pose. Spas might also use them to put over clients eyes as a relaxation tool during certain treatments.

Some people use them at home for stimulating relaxation before sleep or to help block out light. Additionally, some find them beneficial for battling headahces.

Other benefits

The eyebag is a simple way of warming the eyelids, (easier than hot, wet flannels.) If you've got sore eyes with blepharitis, or cysts or dry eye, then try out the eye bag. It can be nice to warm it in the microwave for 30 seconds, lie back and enjoy some relaxing 'eyebag time'.

Relaxing with a warm eyebag might also be beneficial for eyelid spasms. If it does not calm the spasm directly, it will help to calm the mind which can get agitated with on-going and endless eyelid spasming.

Where to find one

Eyebags are also sometimes called Eye pillows. They are sold in some yoga studios and natural foods markets. Large natural food chains like Whole Foods and Wild Oats sell them. It is also easy to find them online.
