Creating an Account

It helps to start by creating a User identity.

  • It is good to have a User ID, so you can receive credit for your contributions and track your changes.
  • It also allows you to watch pages you are interested in keeping an eye on, set your user preferences and send and receive email from other users. (Giving your email is optional but we recommend it as it will allow other users to contact you anonymously with questions or thoughts.)

Once you are signed up, check out the tips for new members.

Note: WikiHealth takes your privacy seriously and we will never use, sell or share your email address for any other purposes.

Editing Articles

When to Edit an Article?

The collaborative nature of WikiHealth allows you to edit and improve any article on the site. Some examples of when it makes sense to edit an article are:

  • If you have additional information that will improve the existing article.
  • If you notice content errors or outdated information and want to correct the existing information.
  • If you see grammar, spelling or other written mistakes that you want to change to increase clarity for the reader.

How to Edit an Article?

  • Click the 'edit' tab at the top of every page; this will allow you to edit any of the pages (with the exception of a few administrator or user protected pages.)
  • When you are done making your changes to the content, click the 'Show Preview' tab at the bottom of the page so that you can ensure that your content is formatted correctly and reads logically.
  • Before saving your edits, it is good practice to enter a brief summary of your changes in the 'Edit Summary' box below the edit window and before the 'Save' button.
  • If your edit is a minor edit, such as a typo or a grammatical correction, you should check the 'Minor change' box just above the 'Save' button.
  • When editing is complete, you need to click the 'Save' button at the bottom of the page.

* If editing in WikiHealth is new to you, you should practice in the sandox.
