Description
The Search feature is a great way to find information on a specific subject matter within WikiHealth. You can access the search tool from every page in WikiHealth, it is located on the left side of your screen, under the Navigation box

Searching

The seach function on the left side of every page can search for articles or names both within WikiHealth and on the Web.

Using the 'Search' button

To perform a search for terms that is confined to the WikiHealth site enter the search term in the space provided, select the "site" radial button and hit the search button. A search will be performed on both the titles and content of the pages within WikiHealth. (By default, the search function only searches articles; however, these options can be changed either in your preferences.)

Using the 'Go' Button

If you know the name of the article or page you would like to access, type the name into the search input and press the 'Go' button. If the article exists you will be taken directly to that page. (Remember that exact spelling and capitalization matter.) If the page is not found the 'Go' button performs a search on the entered term.

Searching the Web

To search for your term on the web enter your search term, select the 'Web' radial button, and click search. Google will provide a standard results based on the term(s) you supplied.

How to Read the Search Results

There are 3 sections on the search results page:

1. Article Title Matches:
If there is an article or page name that contains the word of your search, then it will be listed under the Article Title Match section. Click on the link to go to the relevant article.
2. Page Text Matches:
If the word you are searching for is not in the title of an article, but in the body or text of the article, it will be listed under the Page Text Match section. Click on the link to go to the relevant article.
3. Search Options:
There are additional search options if you do not find what you are looking for under the Article Title Match and Page Text Match sections.

  • Google Web Search: You can click on the button in this area to have your word searched directly in the external web google database.
  • You can narrow your search to see if it is on specific pages within WikiHealth, such as User Talk pages or Category pages.

Trouble Finding what you are Looking for?

If you are still having trouble finding what you are looking for:

  • Make sure that you have spelled the word in the search box correctly.
  • Try entering a different word with a similar meaning.
  • Try simplifying the search by eliminating extra words.

Configure your Search Results page

You can change how many results come up in your search in your User Preferences (located at the top of each page on your User bar.) You have the option to change the following:

  • Hits to Show per page
  • Lines to show per page
  • Characters of context per line
  • The default site locations you want searched
