How to create and edit Snippets

You start a new snippet in the same way you would create a new article. The only difference is that its title must start with "Snippet:".

Once you have made the snippet, you can add {{snippetname}} to any page you want to use it on.

When editing pages that contain snippets a link to each snippet will be created at the bottom of the edit page.

Remember: Modifying snippets effect every page that a snippet is on so take care when editing them as the results can be far reaching.

Are snippets case sensitive?

Yes, except usually the first letter.

Can I add parameters?

Yes, see Help:Snippet Parameters for instructions.

How many snippets can I use in a page?

As many as you like.

I edited the snippet, so why didn't the page it is used on change?

There are some caching bugs. Refreshing by pressing Ctrl and F5 often helps.

Can I rename a snippet?

Yes, this works in exactly the same way as normal page renames. When a snippet called for inclusion is a redirect page, the redirect snippet is included instead.
