Under NO conditions should women who are pregnant or trying to become pregnant take Accutane.

Accutane should be used with extreme caution under the supervision of a licensed physician. The use of this drug should be avoided in females attempting to conceive and/or engaging in unprotected sexual activity. Potential fetal side effects include: Cerebral abnormalities, hydrocephalus, lissencephaly, skull abnormalities, microcephaly, mental retardation, and ventricular/atrial septal defects. Various other abnormalities and side effects have been noted. Additionally, many malformed infants exhibit several of the stated abnormalities concomitantly. Fetal death is also common.
